Apples

Gilbys Orchards

…have grown over the years from 300 trees in 2004 to over 4500 trees in 2010 with some of the "Best Apples Available in the World"

We started our Aitkin, MN Orchard in 2004 planting 300 dwarf and semi trees to consist of Zestar, Chestnut Crab, Honeycrisp, Sweet 16, Harlasen and Harlared. We had so much fun with the first 300 trees that we have planted an additional 300 trees consisting of SweeTango, Frostbite, Fireside, Cortland and McIntosh. After seeing how much fun we were having, my brother, his wife and family planted an additional 4000 trees in Browersville and Farmington, MN over the last 5 years.

We encourage you to take a walk in our Orchard… we have fabulous locations to take pictures by the apple trees, grape vines, bittersweet or the elderberry plants.

We have taken careful steps to prune and care for our trees to enable maximum fruit quality. We prune our trees for maximum light penetration and air flow. We also have pruned our trees to allow us to harvest the fruit without ladders. We are very careful as we harvest our fruit to insure that we don’t damage our trees. We allow some pick your own in our Aitkin orchard providing that you are also very careful as you harvest your fruit. Lift and twist is the key…. Never pull the fruit from the trees.

We sell all of our apples by the pound… they are bagged in ½ peck and peck bags for your convenience.
